Where is ST George Utah? ST George Utah is locate in the far southwest corner of the state, just 8 miles from the Arizona boarder. St George is directly off Interstate 15, only 120 miles from Las Vegas, 300 miles from Salt Lake City, and 380 miles from Grand Junction CO. What is the Land of Dixie all about? St George, also known as Utahs’ Dixie, is located just a few miles south of the “snow line” and therefore has a mild climate and long growing season and at one time was a large producer of cotton. The area is also located at the edge of three eco-tones- the Mojave desert, the Great Basin, and the Colorado Plateau - and is therefore home to a diverse array of rare plants and animals found nowhere else on earth. The terrain is and geology are rich and rugged, with sandstone and rock outcrops, uplifts, and volcano remnants, all sliced by the Virgin River. The Town of ST George has a population of 80,000 people and is surrounded by public land open space affording those who live here an amazing outdoor lifestyle. Where does the Race Start? The race Start and Finish, as well as all the days activities will be staged at Tonaquint Park along the Santa Clara River. We will have the whole park which include two pavilions and lots of shade tree’s. There is also a bike path, nature center, community gardens and tennis for those support people who might tag along. The Park is located at 1851 South Dixie Dr. Take the Bluff St Exit off I-15 turn west and take the first light on Hilton Dr. Take this up and over the hill until the road forces you to make a right turn. This is Dixie Dr. Stay straight and the park is just after the bridge that crosses the Santa Clara River. Parking is limited at the venue, but there is plenty of parking at the over flow lot located just 0.3 miles north of the park. Where is Packet Pick-up Packet pick-up will be located at Red Rock Bicycle , located in central ST George on 100 South and Bluff Street. We encourage everyone to pick up their packets on Friday so they can have all the news and details about the course and the race in hand before the start.
