GRO-PROMOTIONS Presents
Through the City
After a lot of planning and working with City Safety Officers we have found the ideal location for Staging TrueGrit..
Starting in Tonaquint Park Racers will travel up Dixie Dr 1.7 miles to Canyon View Dr, and then it is one quick burst up the steep incline to get to dirt in Green Valley. The return route is the same.
Racers will follow race markers and must obey all street rules.
The Dirt
The dirt portion of GRIT takes place in the desert south west of the City of ST George. You will travel through sandy washes, over sandstone and rock out-cropping’s, through and around large boulders, over fast and flowy single track, up steep climbs to the top of 4 different ridges, you will see miles of of beautiful desert plateaus, red mountains, and white cliffs . It will be one of the toughest , most technically demanding courses you have ever raced - and the most beautiful.
The Epic 50 -Course:
The Epic Course travels through 3 riding areas in St George, Red Bluff, Curly Hollow, and Bommer Hill area of the Santa Clara River Reserve and link them for one long ride. The course uses the Red Bluff Competitive Area, the Barrel Ride, the Zen trail, the Bear-Claw Poppy Trail, Stucki Springs Trail, The Rim Runner, and the Barrel Rolls Trail.
The total course is 51 miles in length with 46 of it on dirt. The course is very technical and should be pre-riden, especially the Zen and Barrel Ride trail section. There are several steep drops, climbs, and turns that may require riders to get off their bike. ( please watch the videos )
The course travels in a generally clockwise direction ( except for the Zen loop which is counter clockwise) and has 3 loops to complete. There will be check points at each of the loops. There will also be 2 aid stations with food, water, first aid, and repair services that can be accessed at approximately miles 16, 20, 38, and 44
The Epic 100 - Course:
The Epic 100 course is 2 laps WITHOUT going back to the park. Once racers pop out of Cove Wash they will make a right turn instead of left back into the Key Hole wash to complete the second lap. This mean that you will also not access an aid station until approx Mile 57. Upon completing lap 2 you will take a left after Cove Wash and finish at Tonaquint Park.
The Challenge Course:
The Challenge Course is about half the length of the Epic Course, but includes the toughest trails. This course resides all within the Red Bluff riding area, and includes some extra dirt roads. The course uses the Red Bluff Competitive Area, the Barrel Ride, the Zen trail, and then heads back to the Start/Finish through Green Valley.
The course is 23 miles long with 20 miles on dirt. There is one check point on this trail after you finish the Zen trail and 1 aid station that is accessible at miles 16, and 20.
